Fish Springs is located on the northwest face of the Fish Springs Range.
Little is known about this small mining town. Only two standing buildings remain. Equipment and several
mines are located throughout the nearby hills. Entry into the larger mines was blocked. This secluded area
has plenty of wood for camping. The Fish Springs National Wildlife Refuge is just over the hill on the
northeast side of the Fish Springs Range. We drove past the Wildlife Refuge, turned east on the old pony
express trail, and south at the Black Rock Hills. Continuing south through the Spor Mountains, we encountered
many old mining camps.
